Walk eight blocks from bus-stop, with computer, at 9:00pm?
Walk eight blocks from bus-stop at 11:30pm, but without computer?
Take the direct bus home at 6:00pm and bring my car back to campus to finish prepping for class tomorrow?

Depends on safety of neighborhood. Is yours especially crime-prone? If not, I’d go for option 1.

Not especially crime-prone, but probably some vagrants, teenagers running around. I suspect I’m safe any which way and it’s just a personal choice–and being on campus late at night SUCKS. Unfortunately, I currently don’t have real internet at home, which constrains the part of work that involves grabbing key facts and images from the web to write lectures. On the other hand–class prep takes as long as you allow, and early morning on campus is way better than late night.
You are clearly the RSS user.
