So, I’m reading the student newspaper.

First, an opinion column on sports also gives a quick outline of the “game of the week.” The outline ends with the Vegas odds, and the column ends by saying “take the points and the over.”

I’m sorry, but should a student paper be giving gambling advice?

Then I read approximately the worst restaurant review ever, in which a student who has never eaten Indian food goes to “review” the restaurant in town. The gist of it—the food didn’t look that edible, but tasted pretty decent, but the student probably won’t eat Indian food again for a long while anyhow. Grade: C.

No wonder students don’t understand grades, if they think it’s legitimate to assign a grade for something you have never even experienced before.
