There is a search committee, which I am not on. However, I am legitimately interested in the results of the search and attended all the talks. There were candidates whom I thought were strong, and candidates whom I considered weak.
The committee emailed a number of people with an interest, including me, and said they welcomed our feedback on the candidates.
Do I rank all the candidates? Do I only praise the strong people? Do I speak up about the one candidate who seemed so weak I’m not sure ze should be finishing, never mind getting a position?
