At a conference recently, someone who had been in my history thesis class at college (eleven years ago) walked up to me and said “hello, dance.” I was all “who are you?” This was a guy I had barely known.
A few years back, in a burrito joint not in my hometown, I randomly ran into someone I hadn’t seen since graduating high school. Not a particularly close friend, but mutual recognition was instant.
The year I was about to graduate high school, someone I had graduated sixth grade with walked up to me and said “hello, Dance.” I was all, “who are you?” Actually, this kid had been a friend of mine, but I sure didn’t recognize him.
I LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME AS I DID IN SIXTH GRADE.
